TSH Resources Bhd reported that recent fires involving forests and peatland had caused no impact on its Indonesian operations or assets, including concessions. The oil palm group disclosed this in an Oct 22 filing to Bursa Malaysia.

Singapore Exchange Ltd (SGX) had sought general information from the company, which has operations in Malaysia and Indonesia. TSH provided its response through disclosures to SGX and Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd.

The group said environmental agencies had neither named it nor sent it any notice over the recent transboundary haze. It also said its zero-burning rules ban fire from field work, covering replanting as well as preparation of land and new planting.

According to TSH, those rules have formed part of its sustainability policy since May 2009. They cover all companies within the group, together with contractors and suppliers, and reflect its commitment to comply with Malaysian and Indonesian laws.

TSH put its estimated average annual spending on measures to prevent and respond to fires at RM2 million. It said it had not undertaken new planting on peat since Dec 31, 2015. It added that every Indonesian estate held certification under the Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) scheme, with regular audits by third parties.
