Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) said it will apply pro-rata credits to October 2026 electricity bills to reflect September bill adjustments for customers consuming no more than 800 kilowatt-hours (kWh) a month.

The credits follow the government’s announcement on Sept 17 of a move to raise the protection threshold for domestic customers. The announced change would take the monthly limit to 800 kWh from 600 kWh.

According to TNB, domestic customers within the 800 kWh monthly limit will receive full exemptions for Sept 1-Dec 31, 2026 from three charges: automatic fuel adjustment (AFA), the retail charge of RM10 and Service Tax of eight per cent. Their bills will separately identify the September bill adjustment and the service tax adjustment.

TNB also encouraged customers to track daily usage through myTNB and keep it below 25 kWh. For premises equipped with smart meters, it suggested setting an Energy Budget below RM328. Other measures it recommended included temperature settings between 24°C and 26°C, timers and moving high-powered appliance use to off-peak hours under the Time-of-Use (TOU) scheme.
