Ting Mee Land Sdn Bhd has held a groundbreaking ceremony for Garden Bay City, its 44-acre development in Kerteh, Kemaman. The developer said in an Oct 27 statement that sales take-up for Phase 1 of The Walk, the project's commercial hub, had reached 90%.

Work on the current phase was approximately 25% complete before the ceremony, according to the Garden World Group subsidiary. Preparing the site required demolishing buildings and addressing infrastructure matters involving road reserves, underground gas pipelines, electrical substations and sewage pumping facilities.

Plans for The Walk provide for 72 commercial units. Ting Mee Land said it had secured tenancy partnerships with FamilyMart, Hock Kee Kopitiam and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. Its prospective tenant pipeline also includes a pharmacy, a fitness centre, a premium grocery retailer, stores selling home and living products, and more food-and-beverage operators.

Beyond the commercial component, the masterplan includes a private healthcare centre, a branded hotel, serviced apartments, landed homes and amenities for the community.

The company also reported that Garden Bay City had obtained GreenRE Bronze Provisional Certification. It said the development was the first township in Terengganu to receive the certification.
