Rakuten Trade’s Bursa online orders remain unavailable, with no restart date
Clients can submit manual sell orders through customer service, while US and Hong Kong stock trading remains available.

Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd has yet to confirm when online orders for Bursa Malaysia stocks will resume after a disruption lasting more than a week. The brokerage said it restricted transactions as a precaution after detecting a cybersecurity attempt.
Customers cannot buy or sell Malaysian stocks online using the broker’s website or iSPEED.my app. Its customer service team is handling manual sell orders, while clients can continue trading US and Hong Kong stocks, according to notices from the brokerage. Deposits, withdrawals and account access also remain available.
In a written response to The Edge, chief executive officer Kazumasa Mise said assessments so far had found no evidence of data loss. He also said the disruption was unrelated to separate cybersecurity incidents reported in Japan.
A client notice dated Oct 28 said the broker was nearing the end of checks needed to restore Bursa Malaysia online orders. Rakuten Trade said it would first establish that the service was stable and then inform clients when online buying and selling could resume. An earlier notice described verification, testing and security validation as part of the restoration work.
Rakuten Trade started operating in May 2017 through a joint venture involving Kenanga Investment Bank Bhd and Japan’s Rakuten Securities Inc. The platform holds a licence from the Securities Commission Malaysia.
