Jetro plans Johor programme to widen market for Japanese food
The Nov 18, 2026 event will introduce food service operators to menu ideas using products supplied by local distributors.

Japanese ingredients will be the focus of a Johor programme for food service operators organised by the Japan External Trade Organisation (Jetro) Kuala Lumpur and Embassy of Japan in Malaysia. Scheduled for Nov 18, 2026, the B2B Japanese Food Promotion Programme will take place at Warakuya Japanese Restaurant, Permas Jaya, the organisers said in a joint statement.
Participants will be shown menu ideas incorporating products such as seafood and wagyu beef that local distributors supply. The programme will also give operators opportunities to discuss business and network with other participants.
The organisers said the initiative forms part of Jetro’s Japan Food Export Platform. It aims to raise awareness of Japanese food products and broaden their reach in Johor and other Malaysian markets, supporting Japan’s food exports to Malaysia.
They cited growing attention on Johor following development of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ). They also pointed to visitors and shoppers from Singapore, alongside rising Japanese investment in the state, particularly in services.
