Selangor adds KTM Komuter to RM30 monthly transport subsidy
The scheme has a quota of 50,000 units, with eligibility determined by registration as a Selangor voter rather than home or workplace location.

Selangor’s state government has widened its public transport subsidy to cover KTM Komuter travel, providing RM30 a month to eligible recipients. Previously, coverage was limited to Rapid KL On-Demand and Kumpool, both first/last mile van services.
Applicants must be registered voters in Selangor; their residential address and workplace do not determine eligibility. They must submit applications through the Nine app. Approval results in a credit of RM30 to the applicant’s Nine e-wallet.
The subsidy falls under Pakej Daya Tahan Selangor, which is intended to help with living costs. Its quota is 50,000 units.
Ng Sze Han, Exco of investment, trade and mobility, said adding the rail service would broaden the scheme’s reach and encourage use of the wider public transport network. According to Ng, Rapid KL On-Demand is chosen by 90% of recipients. Users aged between 26 and 35 account for 35% of the total, making them the largest age group.
Covered rail routes include Batu Caves – Pulau Sebang and Tanjung Malim – Pelabuhan Klang. Coverage extends beyond those lines to the Northern Sector’s Ipoh – Butterworth and Padang Besar – Butterworth routes, alongside Shuttle Selatan in Johor.
