The Works Ministry (KKR) has said the proposed Madani Highway between Seremban, Kuala Pilah and Bahau is outside its current plans, although preliminary work for two other road projects has received approval.

KKR provided the update in a written parliamentary response to Datuk Shamshulkahar Mohd Deli (Barisan Nasional-Jempol). It said the approvals followed an alternative-route study for the Seremban-Kuala Pilah Road (FT051) and fell under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) and 13MP.

For the Kuala Pilah Bypass, RM187 million is allocated for design and land acquisition along the proposed connection between Tanjung Ipoh and Kampung Gentam Tengah, Kuala Pilah. A separate RM5 million allocation under the 13MP covers design for a proposed Ulu Bendul–Tanjung Ipoh road.

The ministry said these preparatory stages would establish the technical scope and refine cost estimates. An application to proceed with physical implementation would subsequently require the central agency’s consideration and approval.

Conducted between July 2022 and July 2023, the study considered traffic demand, land use, socio-economic factors and environmental and social effects. KKR also reported receiving several unsolicited private-sector proposals for a tolled highway on the route; implementation would depend on consideration by the central agency.
