Malaysia’s projected SDG achievement reaches 58% by 2030
The projection exceeds the global figure of 35%, while a national council reviewed 10 priorities affecting public well-being.

Malaysia is projected to achieve 58% of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030, compared with an earlier projection of 49%, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said.
In a Facebook post on Oct 22, Anwar said the higher projection reflected progress on the SDG agenda. However, he said more work was necessary to ensure that development benefited all Malaysians, stressing that the goals should translate into meaningful improvements in people’s lives.
Anwar had chaired the 2026 National SDG Council meeting, where Malaysia’s implementation of the goals was reviewed. The meeting also examined progress across 10 priorities with a direct bearing on public well-being.
He said these included mental health, child malnutrition, environmental sustainability, empowerment of persons with disabilities, threats from fraud and measures to reduce development disparities between states.
