Malaysia sets provisional steel import duties of 4.41% to 35.06%
The measures cover specified flat-rolled products from China, Taiwan and Vietnam and will remain in place for up to 120 days.

Malaysia has introduced provisional anti-dumping duties of 4.41% to 35.06% on certain steel imports from China, Taiwan and Vietnam, the Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti) said.
The duties apply to flat-rolled steel products with aluminium and zinc plating or coating. Both other alloy steel and non-alloy steel originating in, or exported from, the three countries fall within the investigation.
Miti said its preliminary findings provided enough evidence for the investigation to proceed. It described the temporary duties, lasting up to 120 days, as necessary to avert further harm to domestic producers. The measures will be secured by guarantees matching the dumping margins.
The inquiry began on July 17, 2026, after NS Bluescope Malaysia Sdn Bhd petitioned on behalf of domestic producers. The company alleged that the imports were priced below selling prices in their home markets, causing material injury to Malaysia’s domestic industry.
The ministry said it completed the preliminary determination under Section 23 of the Countervailing and Anti-Dumping Duties Act 1993 (Act 504). A final determination is expected by March 6, 2027.
