IJM secures RM1.23 billion semiconductor construction award in Kedah
The contract lifts IJM Construction’s outstanding order book to RM10.6 billion, with work scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026.

IJM Corporation Bhd said its wholly owned construction subsidiary has accepted a RM1.23 billion award from AT&S Austria Technologie & Systemtechnik (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd. The contract covers semiconductor facilities at Kedah’s Kulim Hi-Tech Park, with IJM Construction Sdn Bhd responsible for their design and construction.
In its Bursa filing, IJM outlined a 14-month project involving a production building of four storeys, a central utility building of three storeys and a single-storey facility for wastewater treatment. Work is scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of 2026; completion is expected in the fourth quarter of 2027.
Responsibilities extend from design development and procurement to construction, followed by testing and commissioning. The scope encompasses cleanrooms and process utilities alongside civil works, structural works, mechanical systems, electrical systems and supporting infrastructure.
IJM said the facilities will use precast components under the Industrialised Building System (IBS). It is targeting Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification for the production building.
Following the award, the subsidiary’s outstanding order book totals RM10.6 billion, spanning buildings, advanced industrial facilities and civil engineering. IJM Construction had also secured semiconductor and medical technology projects valued at RM909.5 million in August 2026.
AT&S Malaysia’s parent, Vienna-listed Austria Technologie & Systemtechnik AG, announced in June that it planned to invest between €1.5 billion and €2 billion in expanding its Kulim operations. Those plans include equipping the existing second plant and adding a facility to manufacture IC substrate cores and advanced PCBs.
