Bursa Malaysia posts 10 per cent rise in 3Q2026 net profit
Quarterly revenue increased 20.3 per cent to RM216.41 million, while the Islamic market segment returned to profit.

Bursa Malaysia Bhd reported RM70.20 million in net profit for 3Q2026, an increase of 10 per cent from RM63.84 million a year earlier. Revenue for the quarter, which ended Sept 30, 2026, reached RM216.41 million, up 20.3 per cent from RM179.90 million.
The exchange operator attributed the earnings improvement mainly to its securities, derivatives, Islamic markets and data businesses. The exchange holding company did not contribute to the increase.
Securities segment profit increased 11.5 per cent to RM104.6 million from RM93.8 million. Trading revenue reached RM90.9 million, rising 15.3 per cent from RM78.9 million. Average daily trading value (ADV) covering on-market trades and direct business transactions increased 13.5 per cent to RM3.2 billion from RM2.8 billion.
Derivatives segment profit climbed 34.9 per cent to RM16.5 million from RM12.2 million. Its trading revenue increased 32.6 per cent to RM35.8 million from RM27.0 million, mainly reflecting higher volumes of crude palm oil futures (FCPO) and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI Futures (FKLI) contracts.
Lower operating expenses helped the Islamic market segment post RM2.8 million in profit, reversing a loss of RM0.5 million. Data business profit edged up 1.2 per cent to RM15.1 million from RM15.0 million. Higher staff costs and professional fees widened the exchange holding company’s loss to RM3.3 million from RM1.7 million.
Over the nine-month period ending Sept 30, 2026, net profit increased to RM214.81 million from RM189.32 million. Revenue rose to RM641.46 million from RM536.86 million.
Chief executive officer Datuk Fadl Mohamed said market momentum during the period was supported by stronger trading and continued fundraising. He cited 47 initial public offerings (IPOs), securities market ADV growth of 27.6 per cent and a 19.3 per cent rise in average daily derivatives contracts as signs of healthy participation.
