Explora Books Showcases Geoffrey Bott's Memoir and Thriller Novels at BIBF 2026

Explora Books featured three titles by award-winning scientist and independent author Geoffrey Bott at the 32nd Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF), held June 17–21, 2026, at the China National Convention Center in Beijing.
Vancouver, British Columbia Sep 14, 2026 (Issuewire.com) - Displayed throughout the five-day fair at Booth 5A.B14, the works were featured as part of Explora Books' international showcase of independent authors during the event's 40th-anniversary edition.
Bringing together exhibitors from 82 countries and regions and welcoming 300,000 attendees, this year's BIBF was held under the theme "Using Books as a Medium to Facilitate Communication and Dialogue, Leading to Cooperative Success." The fair also facilitated 2,835 copyright trade agreements, reinforcing its position as one of the world's leading platforms for international publishing exchange. Within that setting, Bott's books presented a body of work spanning memoir, science, and thriller fiction, united by themes of resilience, scientific inquiry, and human ingenuity.
Among the featured titles, Uphill served as the memoir at the center of the collection. The book chronicles twelve years of personal and medical adversity, including repeated knee surgeries, divorce, a devastating wildfire, and a wrongful arrest. When orthopedic surgeons concluded that his left knee could not be restored, Bott refused to accept the prognosis. Through determined rehabilitation and training, he completed California's Death Ride--a demanding single-day cycling event covering 129 miles, five mountain passes, and 15,000 feet of elevation gain. Told with British wit and candid reflection, the memoir explores perseverance, resilience, and the determination to redefine personal limits.
The exhibit also included Bott's Daniel Cross thriller series. Biological Deception introduces Daniel Cross, an internationally respected British scientist who travels to Namibia to authenticate a valuable diamond. When his findings raise unexpected questions and a Russian intelligence operative is murdered, Cross becomes entangled in an international conspiracy involving biological weapons, political corruption, and a race to prevent widespread loss of life. Drawing on Bott's own scientific background, the novel combines technical authenticity with fast-paced suspense.
The series continues with Art of Deception, which opens with the sinking of a massive container ship in the Panama Canal. As Cross investigates, he uncovers an artificial intelligence system weaponized to target him personally while threatening global infrastructure and international supply chains. The novel's exploration of AI-driven risks echoed one of the technology-focused discussions held throughout BIBF 2026, where publishing professionals examined artificial intelligence's growing influence on research, publishing, and creative industries.
Geoffrey Bott is an internationally recognized electronic engineer and mass spectrometry scientist trained at the University of Sheffield, whose research includes two pioneering scientific developments. He continues to write from his home in South Lake Tahoe, California, where he combines scientific expertise with fiction and memoir to explore the intersection of human resilience, technology, and discovery.
Uphill, Biological Deception, and Art of Deception are available on Amazon and other major digital bookstores.
