Worldwide Holdings receives waste-to-energy developer award

The recognition comes after the first plant at its Jeram WTE facility in Selangor began commercial operations in May 2026.

Worldwide Holdings Bhd (WHB) has received the Best Waste-to-Energy (WTE) Developer award at the Business Today Industry Choice Awards 2026, the group said in a statement on Oct 30.

Its Jeram WTE facility in Selangor is a key project in the group’s waste-to-energy activities. The facility’s first plant started operating commercially in May 2026, processing municipal solid waste to produce energy rather than sending that waste to landfill.

Group chief executive officer Ahmad Zaki Ahmad Zainuddin said WHB’s work in the sector included developing infrastructure, strengthening local expertise and training Malaysian talent. He said those capabilities were needed to support further WTE development in Malaysia.

Ahmad Zaki said the recognition encouraged WHB to pursue a stronger position in the WTE sector within Malaysia and internationally. The group described its waste-management efforts as supporting lower landfill use, resource recovery and the shift towards a low-carbon, circular economy.
