The Finance Ministry announced lower unsubsidised fuel prices for Oct 22 to Oct 28, with RON95 and RON97 petrol each falling 30 sen per litre and diesel declining 10 sen per litre.

RON95 will cost RM4.32 per litre, against RM4.62 previously, a reduction of 6.49%. RON97 will be priced at RM4.80 per litre, down 5.88% from RM5.10. Diesel will fall to RM5.07 per litre from RM5.17, a decrease of 1.93%.

According to the ministry, regional refined petroleum prices had started easing over the calculation period for the automatic pricing mechanism, although Brent crude remained above US$100 per barrel. It attributed the decline to anticipated additional supply from China alongside continuing output elsewhere in Asia.

The ministry said geopolitical conflicts continued to pose supply disruption risks and expected global petroleum prices to stay volatile over the medium term.

It also cited the government's expected RM40 billion expenditure on fuel subsidies announced in Budget 2027. At current prices, the ministry put the subsidy for each litre of RON95 at RM2.33, or 54% of the unsubsidised price. For diesel, the corresponding subsidy is RM2.97 per litre, or 59%.
