TNB reports power restoration within 77 minutes after Johor fire
Two technical personnel were injured at the Kangkar Tebrau substation and are in stable condition, while investigations into the cause continue.

Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) said it had restored electricity across all affected areas within 77 minutes following a fire at its Kangkar Tebrau Main Intake Substation in Johor. The incident injured two of the utility’s technical personnel.
In a statement on Oct 17, the company said the blaze started at 6.03pm and interrupted power in parts of Johor Bahru. The affected locations included Kempas, Desa Tebrau, Bandar Dato Onn, Johor Jaya, Taman Daya and Bandar Ulu Tiram. Technical teams were sent out to bring electricity back progressively.
The two injured personnel were at the substation when the incident occurred. Both were reported to be stable and undergoing further treatment at Johor Bahru’s Sultan Ismail Hospital. TNB said their families had been notified and were accompanying them.
TNB’s technical team is working with authorities, including the Fire and Rescue Department, to establish the cause. The utility said it would cooperate fully with investigators and apologised to customers affected by the outage.
