Synology reports double-digit Malaysian sales growth
Government and healthcare demand supported growth despite higher hard disk drive prices, according to the company's Malaysia country manager.

Synology Inc said its Malaysian sales had grown by double digits so far in 2026, supported by greater demand for data storage from government bodies and healthcare organisations. The Taiwanese technology company did not provide a precise rate or identify the measure used.
Malaysia country manager Jason Sin told Bernama during the company's annual media event in Kuala Lumpur that growth had continued despite rising hard disk drive prices. Synology makes network-attached storage appliances.
Sin said government demand came from state and federal authorities, with federal projects accounting for more activity. Non-disclosure agreements prevented the company from naming the agencies. He also reported greater medical-sector interest as customers became more aware of storage options suited to their data requirements.
Synology international business department director Joanne Weng said she expected hybrid cloud infrastructure to remain a long-term trend. Some customers that had initially moved towards cloud services were bringing data back to private infrastructure, she said.
Synology Southeast Asia head Antoine Yang identified fragmented data as an obstacle to artificial intelligence (AI) adoption among Malaysian businesses, including manufacturers. He said information was spread across computers, cloud infrastructure and other locations, while confidentiality concerns contributed to a gap in using business-critical data with AI. Stronger data governance was needed before connecting that information to AI systems, he said.
