Selangor manufacturing project implementation nears 88 per cent
Selangor also topped state investment approvals in the first half of 2026 with RM70 billion.

Nearly 88 per cent of Selangor’s manufacturing projects that received approval between 2021 and June 2026 had entered construction or production by Oct 13, 2026, the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) said.
The nationwide implementation rate was just over 88 per cent across 5,822 projects, according to MIDA chief executive officer Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid. For approvals covering 2021 to 2024, more than 90 per cent of projects had begun implementation.
Speaking at the Selangor Investment Forum (SIF), held as part of the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2026, he said Selangor recorded RM70 billion in investment approvals in the first half of 2026, ahead of every other state.
Malaysia’s approved investments totalled RM218.5 billion over the period, with about 99,000 jobs expected to result. Selangor and Johor together represented close to 60 per cent of the national total, he said.
He attributed Selangor’s approvals to digital investments spanning cloud computing, financial technology, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, the Internet of Things and big data analytics. He also said Budget 2027 enhances Global Services Hub (GSH) tax incentives and extends the Green Technology Investment Tax Allowance (GITA) until 2030.
