Sarawak debuts keteq.GaN chip and cybersecurity strategy
The state also announced MyDigital ID integration for Sarawak Pass, which is being extended to cover more digital services.

Sarawak presented keteq.GaN on Oct 4, marking its first gallium nitride power semiconductor chip designed locally. Developed by state-owned Sarawak Microelectronics Design (SMD) Semiconductor Sdn Bhd, it debuted during the International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (IDECS) 2026.
At the conference, Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Zohari Abang Openg said using technology developed locally in intelligent power conversion systems could allow the state to take chip design into practical applications.
The event also introduced the Sarawak Cybersecurity Strategy Roadmap 2030. The Sarawak Multimedia Authority is leading the strategy, the first comprehensive cybersecurity plan at state level. Its intended protections cover strategic information assets, alongside businesses and citizens.
Sarawak Pass is being integrated with MyDigital ID. The identity service for state government services is also being extended beyond Air Borneo, Sarawak Energy and Sarawak Water. Led by the Sarawak Civil Service Digitalisation Unit, the expansion aims to give users access to digital services through an interoperable system.
The state's AI initiatives include the Sarawak Artificial Intelligence Centre, Sarawak AI Blueprint 2026 to 2030 and Sarawak Sovereign AI Infrastructure platform. It is also developing the Kuching AI data campus and AI Grid, which would link computing resources using Sarawak's renewable energy capacity. ADAM AI is an AI tool for the Sarawak Civil Service.
Sarawak separately plans a 2030 launch for its first nanosatellite, based on CubeSat technology. The state intends to collect geolocation data and Earth imagery to help monitor the environment and manage resources, while building electronics and semiconductor capabilities.
