The broker says online orders for Malaysia, the US and Hong Kong must go through iSPEED.my, with limited website access for Contra traders.

Rakuten Trade has restored buying and selling of Bursa Malaysia shares through iSPEED.my, its mobile app, according to a Nov 4 client notice. Its website remains unavailable for online trading as a precaution.

The website suspension applies across all markets, including Malaysia, the US and Hong Kong. Clients must route online orders through the app, although Contra traders may use the website to pick up outstanding trades. The deadline for doing so is 11pm on T+2.

The broker said neither clients’ funds nor their shareholdings had been affected and assured them that both remained safe.

Bursa trading had faced disruption for more than a week as Rakuten Trade took precautionary action following a cybersecurity attempt. The broker said in late October that restoring online trading depended on confirming the service’s stability.

Separately, chief executive officer Kazumasa Mise told The Edge that cybersecurity incidents reported in Japan were unrelated to the disruption.
