The National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) is working with the Finance Ministry to finalise arrangements for loan repayment deferment under Budget 2027, with implementation details to be announced soon.

PTPTN chairman Datuk Seri Norliza Abdul Rahim said monthly income would determine borrowers’ repayment obligations. Repayments will be deferred for those earning below RM2,500, while borrowers in the RM2,500 to RM3,000 income band will need to pay RM50 each month.

Borrowers with earnings above RM3,000 must maintain their usual repayments, she said. Norliza was speaking in George Town at Penang Hospital during the Junior Superhero Simpan SSPN 2026 programme.

She encouraged employed borrowers who could afford their instalments to keep paying regularly, saying they would qualify for the budget’s 10% discount.

Norliza also advised borrowers whose repayments were in arrears to approach PTPTN about restructuring their payments to avoid being blacklisted.
