PTPTN borrowers with regular repayments and no arrears to get 10% discount
Budget 2027 also provides repayment deferrals for borrowers earning less than RM2,500 a month and RM50 minimum repayments for another income group.

A 10% discount will apply from 2027 to National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) borrowers who repay regularly and have no arrears, according to its chairman, Datuk Seri Norliza Abdul Rahim. She said the incentive recognises borrowers who meet their repayment obligations consistently.
Separate repayment measures announced under Budget 2027 include deferrals for those with monthly earnings below RM2,500. Borrowers in the RM2,500 to RM3,000 monthly income bracket will be required to pay a minimum of RM50. Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced these measures when presenting the budget.
Norliza said more than 400,000 borrowers would benefit from the repayment deferral. Implementation would depend on verification of income, with checks against Inland Revenue Board information. She said the discount was intended to promote regular payments and lower the risk of arrears.
Employers will also receive tax deductions for settling employees’ PTPTN loans, she said. The measure covers payments from January 2027 to December 2028 and is intended to help reduce employees’ debt burdens.
