Proton to produce facelifted X50 Sport Edition based on Flagship variant
Pricing and the sale date remain unconfirmed. The SUV will come in Quartz Black with a black bodykit and red detailing.

Proton has confirmed production plans for the facelifted X50 Sport Edition, which was displayed in June at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS). The new edition uses the range-topping Flagship variant, whereas its predecessor was based on the Premium.
The Sport Edition’s modifications are cosmetic, with Quartz Black its sole colour option. Its black bodykit carries red pinstriping around the front, sides and rear, while the rear diffuser has red fins. Other exterior details include a gloss-black grille and 18-inch turbine-style alloys finished in black.
Under the bonnet is the BHE15-EFZ i-GT engine shared across the facelifted X50 range. The turbocharged, direct-injected four-cylinder unit has a displacement of 1.5 litre and produces 181 PS and 290 Nm. Drive reaches the front wheels through a wet dual-clutch gearbox with seven speeds.
For the cabin, Proton has adopted the Premium’s all-black interior instead of the red lower dashboard and seat trim fitted to the Flagship. Sport Edition additions include red stitching, embossed logos on the front seat backrests, floor mats with red piping and side sill scuff plates.
Flagship equipment retained includes park assist, a panoramic sunroof and a Qi wireless charger. The cabin also has an 8.88-inch instrument display and a 14.6-inch touchscreen for infotainment. Safety features include six airbags, lane centring assist, autonomous emergency braking and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality.
Proton has not announced a price or sale date, and has yet to say whether production will be limited.
