Perak targets semiconductor and automotive investment opportunities
The state recorded RM15.8 billion in investment approvals in 2025, with industrial development discussions also covering rare earth elements.

Perak is seeking opportunities in semiconductor manufacturing, automotive supply chains and rare earth elements, according to MIDA, following discussions at Invest in Perak Day 2026 on 20 August 2026. The agency engaged with the Perak State Government and InvestPerak on industrial development and assistance for investors.
MIDA reported that investment approvals in Perak reached RM15.8 billion in 2025. Manufacturing accounted for RM25.9 billion in approvals between 2021 and 2025; projects representing 67.9 per cent of that amount, or approximately RM17.5 billion, had been realised or were being implemented.
For semiconductors, MIDA identified opportunities at Kerian Integrated Green Industrial Park and Kerian Industrial City. It said their proximity to Penang and Kulim, Kedah could support activities including advanced packaging and testing. The agency advocated matching industrial parks with sectors suited to their infrastructure, local capabilities and supply-chain readiness.
In Muallim, MIDA expects the Automotive High-Tech Valley (AHTV), backed by the PROTON and Geely partnership, to bolster automotive supply chains. Talks on rare earth elements centred on drawing technology partners to help develop technical expertise, specialised workers and greater domestic value creation.
MIDA also took part in business clinics connecting investors with agencies handling infrastructure, regulatory and operational concerns. It outlined assessments under the manufacturing sector’s New Incentive Framework, which considers measurable contributions including technology adoption, sustainability, economic complexity, high-value employment and the development of local suppliers.
