Pekat Group Bhd has agreed to buy land worth RM30.58 million in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, to expand its operations, according to a bourse filing. The purchase covers six adjoining industrial plots with freehold tenure.

The buyer is EPE Switchgear (M) Sdn Bhd, in which Pekat holds an indirect 60% interest. It signed six purchase agreements on Oct 30 with Sime Darby Property (Nilai) Sdn Bhd, which is wholly owned by Sime Darby Property Bhd.

Pekat said its existing Nilai premises cannot accommodate EPE Switchgear's planned growth. The acquired site will house the subsidiary's switchgear manufacturing activities and provide space for the group's businesses in battery energy storage systems, transformers and substations.

Measuring 38,108 sq m, the land lies within the Bandar Hamilton Nilai — Plot 5 development and carries an industrial-use designation. Pekat said ownership would also give its operations long-term tenure security.

Payment will come from internally generated funds, bank borrowings or both, the group said. Completion is expected upon delivery of vacant possession, anticipated within 48 months of the agreements' date.

Pekat reported RM81.68 million in cash and bank balances at end-June 2026, plus fixed deposits of RM1.1 million held with licensed banks. Its total borrowings were RM180.6 million.
