Malaysia’s overseas investment outreach from 2025 to September 2026 produced potential investments totalling RM59.5 billion across 14 visits and missions, the Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry (MITI) said. Approvals had been granted for RM14.2 billion, while negotiations continued over RM45.3 billion.

The figures were provided in MITI’s written response to the Dewan Rakyat. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani headed the engagements, undertaken through the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE).

MITI said the typical time for a project to materialise was between 18 and 24 months, depending on its size, complexity and economic conditions. MIDA would keep monitoring the investment opportunities and providing facilitation and follow-up support to help bring projects into implementation.

High-level engagements during overseas official visits also generated exports worth RM6.77 billion, according to MITI. Meanwhile, MATRADE continued widening its export promotion activities into Central Asia, Africa and Latin America.

Exports to those regions totalled RM69.84 billion over January to September 2026, rising 23.06 per cent, the ministry said. Growth reached 426.1 per cent in Namibia, 55.6 per cent in Angola and 41.0 per cent in Brazil. Other increases included 35.9 per cent in Tanzania, 28.5 per cent in Ethiopia and 11.6 per cent in Kenya.
