OCK plans Phu Quoc telecom project with JTOWER and Sun Group
The project’s initial phase requires about RM2 million, while the investment period will extend over 20 years.

OCK Group Bhd said it has entered an in-principle arrangement with JTOWER Inc and Sun Group for telecommunications investment and deployment on Vietnam’s Phu Quoc island. About RM2 million is required for the first phase.
Under the three-party arrangement, OCK will supply fibre networks and built-to-suit infrastructure. Japan’s JTOWER will provide solutions for coverage inside buildings, while Sun Group owns the project and is responsible for its development.
OCK said the developments covered include hotels, housing, convention facilities, media facilities and airport works. Facilities serving the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit are also included, with outdoor mobile coverage, fibre links and indoor connectivity intended to meet both summit requirements and subsequent needs.
The company expects deployment to finish and operations to start within six to 12 months after commencement. OCK’s exclusive operating rights will cover its built-to-suit infrastructure and fibre networks throughout the 20-year investment period. Southern Star will exclusively operate indoor infrastructure covered by the agreement.
The parties signing were VNC-55 Infrastructure Investment Company Ltd, OCK’s Vietnamese subsidiary; JTOWER’s subsidiary Southern Star Telecommunication Equipment Joint Stock Company; and Sun Phu Quoc, a Sun Group unit.
OCK said its tower portfolio numbers more than 5,500. Its markets include Laos, Indonesia, Myanmar and Vietnam.
