Traffic in both directions on Jalan Permatang Damar Laut in George Town will face partial overnight closures starting Oct 8 as utility identification and diversion works proceed for the Mutiara Line Light Rail Transit (LRT) Project.

Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) said the restrictions would apply daily between 10pm and 5am until Dec 31, with the affected sections closed in stages.

The Bayan Lepas-bound leftmost lane will be affected first, on the section linking Sendok Cafe with Masjid Jamek Kampung Binjai. The next stage will cover the section towards Batu Maung, extending from Bayan Emas Apartments to M Summit Inovasi Sdn Bhd, MRT Corp said.

The remaining lanes will continue carrying traffic. Signboards and traffic cones, together with flagmen, will be used to manage traffic and help ensure motorists' safety.
