MyCoverageOKU, a new microsite bringing together insurance and takaful information for persons with disabilities (PwD), was developed jointly by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), the Financial Education Network and industry players, according to BNM governor Datuk Seri Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour.

Speaking in Shah Alam at the opening of the Selangor Financial Literacy Carnival 2026 on Oct 24, Abdul Rasheed said the platform helps PwD, their families and caregivers find protection products and reach the relevant providers. He said eligibility and benefits depend on each provider’s terms and conditions.

The microsite follows the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. Its accessibility tools allow users to change text sizes and select high-contrast displays, while simpler navigation caters to different access needs.

An Insurance and Takaful Product List lets users review available protection, examine benefits and check eligibility requirements against their needs and circumstances.

Abdul Rasheed also said financial services should be designed around consumers. Artificial intelligence could help deliver information, identify unusual activity and issue timely reminders, he said, but technology should support rather than substitute for consumers’ judgement, while safeguarding personal data and keeping assistance available.
