Mida must follow approvals through to project implementation, says Zafrul
Approved investments totalled RM218.50 billion for the first half of 2026, with more than 99,000 job opportunities expected, according to its chairman.

Malaysian Investment Development Authority (Mida) chairman Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz has called for the agency to ensure approved projects move into construction and operations, providing employment and benefits for local businesses.
Writing on X, Zafrul said securing approvals should not be the endpoint of efforts to bring investment into Malaysia. He had raised the need for implementation at a board meeting and management retreat held by Mida.
He put Malaysia’s approved investments for the first half of 2026 at RM218.50 billion, an 11.7% year-on-year increase. These investments are expected to provide more than 99,000 job opportunities, he said.
Zafrul said investment promotion had objectives that included meeting graduates’ hopes for good jobs, parents’ aspirations for their children to earn more comfortable incomes, and business owners’ desire for expansion opportunities.
He also urged Mida to keep adjusting its working methods in response to current needs.
