MGTC proposes return of solar funding and rate rebates for Budget 2027
The proposed GTFS 6.0 rebates would range from 1.5% to 2%. The current scheme does not offer either rebates or financial support for solar projects.

Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC) is seeking to bring back solar project financing support and interest or profit rate rebates through GTFS 6.0, the upcoming Green Technology Financing Scheme for Budget 2027.
The agency proposed a rebate range of 1.5% to 2%, said Khairul Ikhwan Jamaludin, who heads MGTC’s financing, incentives and investment department. He presented the proposals at the International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition & Conference Malaysia (IGEM) at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. Neither measure is offered under GTFS 5.0, introduced under Budget 2026.
Solar financing was available through GTFS 3.0 under Budget 2021, alongside a 2% rebate on interest or profit rates covering the initial seven years. Its successor, GTFS 4.0 under Budget 2023, omitted solar financing and cut the rebate to 1.5%, retaining the seven-year period.
Separately, MGTC standards and certification department senior executive Nur Syahira Abdul Rahim reported that MyHijau Mark registrations covered almost 25,000 green products and services as of June 2026. The national recognition scheme was introduced on Oct 23, 2012, with government endorsement following in 2015.
Other presentations covered green technology tax incentives and the Low Carbon Operating System. The cloud-based platform allows companies to measure emissions, manage them and prepare reports, as well as monitor the effects of projects aimed at reducing greenhouse gases.
