PRecious Communications reported that Maybank was included in 92% of the Malaysian AI answers it tested, with the bank named first in 74%. The consultancy’s research reflects results recorded in August 2026.

Maybank led both measures across the four question categories examined in the PRecious AI Authority Index: Southeast Asia Banking 2026. CIMB featured in 79% of responses but was the first bank mentioned in 2% of cases.

Language also affected how many banks appeared. On average, responses generated from Malay-language prompts included 1.36 fewer banks than responses to equivalent English prompts, according to the study.

The research used the consultancy’s PRecious Pulse platform and also examined Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines. Results showed stable leaders in some markets, while leadership elsewhere was divided or depended on the question asked.

The consultancy described the findings as diagnostic, not assessments of banks’ financial performance, safety, quality, trust or customer preference. Being mentioned first measures only response order. It said results could shift with changes in services, search and public evidence.
