Malaysia-Uzbekistan trade totals RM430.20 million in first half of 2026
Malaysia’s ambassador said manufacturing, food and commodities were among the sectors that could support further trade growth.

Trade between Malaysia and Uzbekistan amounted to RM430.20 million (US$108 million) over the first six months of 2026. Malaysia’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan Rafedah Abdul Aziz said there was scope for the value to rise further.
In a statement issued by Istana Arau, Rafedah identified food, manufacturing, electrical and electronics, and commodities, including oil and palm-based products, as areas with potential. She said these could help businesses access wider markets, build commercial ties and pursue investment opportunities.
Rafedah said the Malaysian Embassy in Tashkent would continue engaging stakeholders in both countries to strengthen relations. Cooperation being explored in Uzbekistan and the wider Central Asian region covers education, trade, investment, TVET (technical and vocational education and training), Islamic finance and the halal industry.
She also identified tourism, culture, green energy, artificial intelligence, and science and technology as areas for cooperation.
Her comments came as the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, completed a working visit to Uzbekistan. He officiated the 10th International Seminar on Nabawi Heritage 2026 (SWAN X) in Samarkand, with Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin (UniSIRAJ) participating as a strategic organising partner alongside Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM).
