Local institutions post RM352.4 million in net buying on Bursa
Retail investors recorded RM447.5 million in net inflows, while foreign institutions posted RM799.9 million in net outflows.

Local institutions bought more than they sold on Bursa Malaysia for a second consecutive week, with net inflows reaching RM352.4 million in the week to Oct 2, according to MBSB Investment Bank Bhd (MBSB IB).
The bank’s weekly fund flow report put retail net buying at RM447.5 million, extending the group’s buying streak to six consecutive weeks. Foreign institutions, meanwhile, remained net sellers for a second consecutive week, with RM799.9 million flowing out.
Foreign selling exceeded buying on each of the five trading days. Wednesday’s net outflow was the largest at RM228.4 million. The other daily outflows were RM142.1 million on Monday, RM172.4 million on Tuesday, RM187.9 million on Thursday and RM69.1 million on Friday, the bank said.
Among sectors attracting foreign funds, technology led with RM131.0 million in net inflows, ahead of energy’s RM93.2 million and construction’s RM78.4 million. Financial services had the largest net foreign outflow at RM460.6 million, followed by utilities with RM339.8 million and healthcare with RM163.1 million.
MBSB IB also reported an increase in overall average daily trading volume (ADTV). Volume rose 3.7% for retail investors and 8.6% for foreign institutions, but declined 7.9% for local institutions.
