KWAP plans RM1.5 billion investment through Dana Pemacu
The fund also outlined allocations for start-ups, climate investments, semiconductors and student accommodation.

Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan) (KWAP) said its planned RM1.5 billion allocation through Dana Pemacu, announced in Budget 2027, would help Malaysian businesses obtain growth-stage financing while drawing private capital and developing local fund managers’ capabilities.
The retirement fund’s broader plans cover private markets, strategic sectors and Malaysia’s domestic capital market. KWAP said these investments remain subject to market conditions, its investment processes and risk-return considerations.
Chief executive officer Datuk Jay Khairil Jeremy Abdullah said KWAP would prioritise prudent investment of retirement funds and sustainable returns over the long term. It would also seek opportunities aligned with government development priorities within the Madani Economy framework.
- Dana Perintis will channel RM200 million towards Malaysia’s start-up ecosystem and innovation.
- Dana Iklim+ will direct RM1 billion towards climate-focused investments that facilitate Malaysia’s energy transition.
- KWAP intends to allocate up to RM1 billion to semiconductor value-chain opportunities, aiming to strengthen domestic capabilities and industrial competitiveness.
- Projek Vista Kampus is planned to receive RM750 million for purpose-built student housing at selected local universities, both public and private.
KWAP and the government will establish UniVC with RM50 million to help commercialise university research. The fund is also intended to draw more private capital into homegrown innovation.
Jay Khairil said KWAP’s role in supporting national economic priorities would remain governed by its fiduciary responsibilities, its commitment to Malaysian pensioners and the Retirement Fund Act 2007 (Act 662).
