Kobay Technology Bhd’s manufacturing business helped lift net profit to a record RM18.66 million in 1QFY2027, a 73% increase from RM10.77 million a year earlier. The precision parts manufacturer disclosed the results in a Bursa Malaysia filing.

For the quarter ended Sept 30, 2026, revenue reached RM130.24 million, representing a 17% rise from RM110.88 million. Kobay declared no dividend. Its end-September cash balance, including cash equivalents, was RM60.7 million, compared with loans and borrowings of RM118.8 million.

Manufacturing registered growth of 34% from a year earlier and supplied almost 89% of total segment pre-tax profit. Revenue fell in property development, pharmaceutical and healthcare, as well as asset management and investment holding. However, reduced costs and rental income supported pre-tax profits at the property and pharmaceutical businesses.

Kobay expressed confidence in its semiconductor manufacturing prospects, citing orders in the pipeline and growing demand from customers. It plans to schedule property launches according to market conditions and buyer sentiment, while monitoring and adjusting risk management amid higher construction material and borrowing costs.

The group anticipates steady pharmaceutical and healthcare demand as health awareness and interest in preventive care grow. It plans a wider product range, exploration of overseas markets and tight cost controls for the division to address possible pressures from higher living costs.

Kobay shares closed on Thursday at RM2.42, down eight sen or 3.2%, valuing the company at RM789.4 million. The stock has gained over 66% over the past year.
