Kinergy awarded RM47.5 million data centre electrical subcontract
The Port Dickson project covers core and shell electrical infrastructure, with completion scheduled for the first quarter of 2028.

Gamuda Engineering Sdn Bhd has awarded Kinergy Advancement Bhd a RM47.5 million subcontract covering electrical works at a hyperscale data centre in Port Dickson, Kinergy said. The energy and engineering group will provide the development’s core and shell electrical infrastructure.
Kinergy’s responsibilities cover engineering and equipment supply, followed by installation, testing and commissioning. The completion schedule is set for the first quarter of 2028, according to the company’s Bursa Malaysia filing.
The company said the package covers distribution infrastructure at high tension and low voltage levels, together with transformers, substations and switchgear. Other components include lighting, cabling and power distribution. Kinergy will also provide uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems and electric vehicle (EV) charging, plus the associated interfaces and controls.
Datuk Dr Lai Keng Onn, Kinergy’s executive deputy chairman cum group managing director, said demand for specialist engineering and power infrastructure was rising as developments became larger and more complex. He said this presented opportunities for Kinergy to increase its involvement in the data centre sector.
