Johor-Singapore SEZ investment approvals reach RM88.83 billion
Realised investments amounted to RM40.30 billion, while Malaysia and Singapore agreed to organise an investment forum in 2027.

Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir put approved investments in the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) at RM88.83 billion for January 2025 through June 2026. He said the projects could generate 28,755 jobs.
Realised investments accounted for 45% of approvals, amounting to RM40.30 billion, according to the minister. The projects involved are expected to provide 12,796 jobs.
The figures were presented in Singapore on Nov 2 after the first meeting of the Johor–Singapore Cooperation Ministerial Committee (JSCMC). Akmal Nasrullah and Singapore Minister for National Development Chee Hong Tat jointly chaired the meeting, which Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi also attended.
Akmal Nasrullah described the JSCMC as a mechanism for closer bilateral coordination and oversight of priority initiatives for the zone. He said both countries needed to turn its potential into benefits for their populations and businesses.
He also announced agreement on a joint investment forum for the first quarter of 2027. The JS-SEZ blueprint is due to be launched in December 2026 by the two prime ministers, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Lawrence Wong.
Chee said the blueprint would outline the region’s vision over the medium to longer term. Agencies from Malaysia and Singapore would need to coordinate efforts covering talent, cross-border flows of goods and people, investment and trade promotion, and transport links, he said.
