Johor-Singapore committee to meet on Nov 2 before economic zone plan launch
The JS-SEZ master plan is due to be launched at the 13th Malaysia-Singapore Leaders’ Retreat on Dec 4 and 5.

Singapore will host the inaugural meeting of the Johor-Singapore Cooperation Ministerial Committee (JSCMC) on Nov 2, ahead of the planned launch of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) master plan in December.
Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said the schedule was discussed at his Putrajaya office with Gan Kim Yong, Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry. In a Facebook post, Akmal Nasrullah said their talks covered implementation of the economic zone and a cross-border carbon capture and storage (CCS) initiative.
According to Akmal Nasrullah, investment commitments by Singapore-based companies exceeded S$5.5 billion (RM17.97 billion) as of October 2025. He said the ministry was turning its attention to the next implementation phase, with the aim of delivering benefits to Johor residents and Malaysians more broadly.
The minister said Malaysia and Singapore aim to finalise a bilateral CCS agreement in the fourth quarter. He linked the cooperation to the countries’ goals of creating jobs, developing skills and supporting sustainable economic growth.
Gan’s one-day working visit also included a meeting with Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani and a Malaysia-Singapore Business Council luncheon in Kuala Lumpur. He co-chaired the Third Annual Ministerial Dialogue (AMD) involving Miti and Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry.
