IHH acquisition to expand Gleneagles Johor into integrated campus
Afiniti Wellness will be converted into an outpatient centre, with the acquisition price undisclosed.

IHH Healthcare Bhd said it is buying Afiniti Wellness through Pantai Medical Centre Sdn Bhd, its wholly-owned subsidiary, for the expansion of Gleneagles Hospital Johor. Its plan envisages an integrated healthcare campus covering approximately 18 acres in Medini, Iskandar Puteri, Johor.
The group did not disclose the purchase price. It said Afiniti Wellness will become an ambulatory care centre, with services ranging from consultations and diagnostics to day surgery and other outpatient treatments.
Selected outpatient procedures and same-day treatments will move out of the main hospital to the new centre. IHH said this would leave more hospital facilities available for patients needing complex care.
The campus will bring together the hospital and land already owned by IHH in Medini. Once completed, it is expected to have capacity for approximately 350 inpatient beds. A separate 150-bed inpatient block remains under evaluation for the group's longer-term expansion.
IHH said the project addresses increasing demand for healthcare in Johor, where the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) is expected to bring in more businesses, investment and residents. Dr Kamal Amzan, IHH Healthcare Malaysia chief executive officer, said stronger specialist capabilities and better access to advanced treatment were also objectives of the expansion.
