Hibiscus Petroleum and Seri Pajam partner on power projects for data centres
The companies will assess energy technologies on land held by Seri Pajam and its affiliates, with SPD Tech Valley identified as a potential site.

Hibiscus Petroleum Berhad has agreed to work with Seri Pajam Development Sdn Bhd (SPD) on evaluating and developing electricity plants and other energy solutions for Malaysian data centres and industrial projects, the petroleum company said.
The agreement, dated Sept 30, provides a framework for assessing solar power, carbon capture systems and gas-based generation using engines and turbines. The assessments will cover land belonging to SPD and its affiliates.
Hibiscus Petroleum identified SPD Tech Valley in Senawang, Negeri Sembilan as an industrial park suitable for data centres with an onsite power plant. It said the collaboration would bring together SPD’s land holdings and industrial development presence with its own operating and energy asset management capabilities.
The company said the move forms part of its “Hibiscus 3.0” strategy, which includes diversification into energy transition and related businesses while keeping oil and gas at its core. It aims to address rising electricity demand from data centres and artificial intelligence workloads.
The project will also draw on an earlier agreement dated Sept 30, 2025 involving Hibiscus Petroleum, Sime Darby Energy Solutions Sdn Bhd, Kawasaki Gas Turbine Asia Sdn Bhd and Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd. That partnership brings utility-scale EPCC capabilities together with combined-cycle technologies using gas engines and turbines.
