Grab Malaysia launches booster-seat ride option for families
The beta service is initially limited to advance bookings for KLIA1 and KLIA2 journeys, with further rollout planned in phases.

Families travelling with children between four and 12 years can now book rides equipped with booster seats through Grab Malaysia’s Kid-Friendly Rides (Beta). The company said the service currently covers airport journeys involving KLIA1 and KLIA2, subject to advance booking.
For Standard 6-Seater bookings, customers pay a RM10 add-on fee for one booster seat. Customers choosing Grab EV Exec receive a Koopers Boost Fix booster seat at no extra charge, according to Grab Malaysia.
The company said its limited fleet of participating Standard 6-seater vehicles uses booster seats supplied by Koopers. Drivers operating those rides have been trained in handling child seats. The feature was introduced in line with Malaysian Institute for Road Safety Research (MIROS) safety guidelines.
Grab Malaysia said the next stage would extend the service across the Klang Valley in phases, before expansion to Penang and Johor Bahru.
MIROS director-general Siti Zaharah Binti Ishak said research showed a 45% reduction in injury risk when children between four and eight used booster seats rather than seat belts alone. She also stressed that restraints should suit a child’s size and be correctly installed.
