Minister of Finance II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan expressed confidence that the government can carry out Budget 2027’s RM510 billion expenditure allocation without adding new taxes. He outlined the government’s position during an appearance on the Bicara Naratif programme on RTM 1.

Amir Hamzah said better governance was a continuing priority in tackling wastage and leakage within the current system. The aim was to make national spending more efficient, with public money used to benefit the people and improve Malaysia’s economy.

He said Malaysia’s economic data continued to strengthen, reflecting foreign investors’ confidence in maintaining investment in the country. That investment could, in turn, generate income for the nation, he added.

On the use of revenue, Amir Hamzah emphasised prudent expenditure, addressing gaps that allow leakage and improving the returns from government spending. He said these efforts would be linked to the introduction of several new laws.
