Financial providers ready to support families affected by Nepal-China border floods
Possible assistance includes deferred repayments, fee waivers and faster handling of insurance and takaful claims, according to Bank Negara Malaysia.

Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) said financial service providers are prepared to offer relief to families of victims of the recent Nepal-China border floods. Any support would need to comply with applicable laws and regulatory requirements.
BNM said possible measures include allowing repayments to be deferred and waiving fees or charges. Institutions may also allow flexibility over required documentation while the relevant legal processes are being completed.
In a statement to Bernama, the central bank said institutions may give priority to checking and confirming the status of policies or certificates. They may also speed up insurance and takaful claim payments and offer other assistance suited to individual families' needs.
BNM urged affected Malaysians' next of kin to contact the relevant institutions for assistance. It said it would coordinate closely with financial institutions so that support reaches those affected in a timely manner.
