FBM KLCI gains 0.34 per cent at midday
Advancing counters outnumbered decliners 524 to 428, with turnover reaching 2.36 billion units valued at RM1.24 billion.

Bursa Malaysia ended the Oct 6 morning session higher alongside regional markets following overnight gains on Wall Street. At 12.30 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,637.24, an increase of 5.49 points, or 0.34 per cent, against Monday’s closing level of 1,631.75.
The opening level was 1,636.38, with the benchmark trading within a range of 1,635.21 to 1,641.20 during the morning. Market breadth was positive: 524 counters advanced and 428 declined. Another 520 were unchanged, while 1,310 were untraded and 13 were suspended. Trading volume reached 2.36 billion units, valued at RM1.24 billion.
Hong Leong Investment Bank (HLIB) attributed Wall Street’s gains to megacap technology stocks, saying AI investment and earnings momentum had outweighed elevated bond yields. In its research note, the bank also said Brent crude had fallen below US$102 per barrel as supply concerns eased, though geopolitical risks remained.
Heavyweight shares were mixed. Maybank added two sen, reaching RM10.02, while IHH Healthcare gained seven sen, taking it to RM7.83. Public Bank lost five sen, ending at RM4.66, and CIMB declined two sen, settling at RM7.71. Tenaga Nasional remained unchanged at RM13.00.
Among actively traded counters, ACE Market newcomer SLGC dropped three sen, finishing at 25 sen. Malaysian Pacific Industries was among the leading gainers, adding 86 sen to reach RM44.26. Dutch Lady Milk Industries headed the losing counters with a 40 sen decline to RM29.60.
