Evergreen Max Cash Capital Bhd has obtained four pawnbroking licences as it prepares to establish operations in East Malaysia for the first time, the company said. The Housing and Local Government Ministry granted two licences for Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, and two for Kuching, Sarawak.

Managing director Datuk Low Kok Chuan said establishing a presence in East Malaysia was the immediate priority. The company would draw on its experience managing and expanding its Peninsular Malaysia network.

Its operations have so far been confined to Peninsular Malaysia. The existing network comprises 29 conventional pawnshops alongside 73 Islamic pawnbroking outlets, spanning seven states and Kuala Lumpur.

For the first half ended June 30, 2026, net profit increased 69% to RM27.6 million. Revenue reached RM127.1 million, up 34% year-on-year, on increased pawn loan disbursements and a larger contribution from pawnbroking operations.

Low said the company would keep assessing locations for further expansion while taking a disciplined approach to deploying capital and managing risk.
