Malaysians are being offered three months of complimentary Coursera access under a Digital Ministry-funded programme administered through MyDIGITAL Corporation. The Global Learning Pass is distributing 100,000 licences in phases via the Rakyat Digital portal.

The first cohort, comprising 25,000 participants, began on Sept 16, with participation subject to eligibility and availability. Available learning areas include business, technology, data science, AI and digital literacy.

During the initial three weeks, 12,900 learners enrolled in 43,000 courses, with uptake particularly in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Penang and Perak. Participants aged 18 to 35 represent the largest age group.

Rakyat Digital has recorded close to 1.6 million registrations. The pass contributes to a wider goal of reaching five million e-learners by 2030 in Malaysia and supports the Malaysia Digital 2030 Action Plan (MD2030) and National AI Action Plan 2026–2030.

Understanding Digital Transformation has attracted the most enrolments. MyDIGITAL Corporation developed the two-hour beginner course with Coursera’s Course Builder, covering topics such as cloud computing, AI, blockchain and 5G. Digital Ministry secretary general Datuk Fabian Bigar said the initiative aimed to broaden access to digital learning and help Malaysians gain skills to participate in the digital economy.
