Citaglobal Bhd disclosed on Oct 5 that LAWI Engineering GmbH (LAWI Germany), its indirect subsidiary, would receive RM29 million of work from a Thai waste-to-energy (WTE) contract. Siam Power Co Ltd selected LAWI Germany and a consortium partner that was not named for the RM52.1 million project.

The consortium's assignment covers the steam boiler plant at Siam Power Naklang WTE in Nakhon Ratchasima Province, including its design, procurement and construction. Citaglobal said the facility is designed for daily processing of up to 500 tonnes of municipal solid waste, with electricity generation of about 9.9MW.

According to Citaglobal's bourse filing, LAWI Germany will supply imported equipment and engineering services worth €6.33 million, or about RM29 million. The partner's local work is valued at 189.63 million baht, or about RM23.1 million.

LAWI Germany will manage the boiler island project and its overall engineering. It will also provide basic engineering for the WTE technology component, alongside combustion systems and systems for process optimisation.

The target for starting commercial operations at the boiler island is within 13 months of Sept 30, when the award letter took effect.

Citaglobal Environment Management Sdn Bhd owns 55% of LAWI Germany. Citaglobal's holding in Citaglobal Environment Management is 56.14%. The latter's CEO, Thye Chee How, said LAWI Germany already had technology operating at WTE projects in Ayutthaya and Saraburi.
