CIMB Islamic and PSDC introduce skills programme for 40 youths
The programme provides fully funded technical training, with eligible participants receiving a monthly allowance of RM1,000.

A technical training initiative launched on Oct 31 by CIMB Islamic Bank Bhd and the Penang Skills Development Centre (PSDC) aims to help 40 underprivileged youths find work in Malaysia's manufacturing and electrical and electronics (E&E) sectors.
The organisations said in a joint statement that the iTEKAD CIMB Islamic Employment and Technical Skills Programme would comprise two cohorts of 20 participants. Each group will undertake 480 hours of training over three months through PSDC's Future Manufacturing Talent Programme.
The curriculum spans the fundamentals of manufacturing, assembly of semiconductors and electronics, precision assembly methods, quality inspection, occupational safety and readiness for work. Training is fully funded, while eligible participants will receive RM1,000 a month during the programme to support spending on meals, transport and accommodation-related needs.
Recruitment will prioritise Penang, Kedah, Perlis and Perak. Eligible Malaysians elsewhere may also apply if they can attend training in Penang.
CIMB Islamic chief executive officer Ahmad Shahriman Mohd Shariff described the initiative as the bank's first alternative route for underserved youth to gain Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) skills.
Those who complete the programme successfully will be awarded a PSDC Certificate of Completion. PSDC will assist with employment placement using its industry network. Participants will also attend CIMB Islamic sessions covering financial literacy, awareness of scams and Islamic banking, with individual takaful protection provided to those eligible.
