Bursa slips as heavyweight selling reverses opening gains
Gainers still led decliners 221 to 180, while trading turnover reached RM150.56 million.

Selling in selected heavyweight shares pushed Bursa Malaysia lower shortly after a positive opening on Oct 7. At 9.11 am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,629.67, down 3.68 points against Tuesday’s closing level of 1,633.35.
The benchmark had started trading at 1,633.54, a rise of 0.19 points. Hong Leong Bank, CIMB and Press Metal Aluminium together accounted for a 7.23-point drag on the index. Hong Leong Bank dropped 10 sen to RM21.98, while CIMB declined 15 sen to RM7.55 and Press Metal Aluminium shed six sen to RM7.13.
Across the wider market, 221 counters advanced and 180 declined. Another 306 were unchanged, while 2,083 were untraded and 13 suspended. Trading volume reached 327.37 million units, with a value of RM150.56 million.
Other heavyweight shares were mixed. AMMB declined five sen to RM6.42 and Petronas Gas lost eight sen to RM17.20. In contrast, IHH Healthcare rose three sen to RM7.94, while Maybank increased two sen to RM9.99.
The Financial Services Index declined 134.06 points to 18,933.94, while the Industrial Products and Services Index was down 0.09 points at 180.32. Energy moved higher, with its index rising 6.79 points to 847.51. The Plantation Index advanced 9.57 points to 9,051.74.
