Bursa Malaysia closes higher alongside regional markets
Gainers outnumbered decliners, while trading volume fell to 4.18 billion units with a value of RM2.95 billion.

Bursa Malaysia’s benchmark added 1.60 points on Oct 6, finishing at 1,633.35 as major Asian markets advanced after a technology-led rally on Wall Street. High US Treasury yields nevertheless weighed on risk appetite.
The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) had closed at 1,631.75 on Monday. It started trading at 1,636.38 and recorded a session low of 1,632.77 and a high of 1,641.20.
Across the broader market, 667 counters advanced and 456 declined, with another 551 unchanged. Trading involved 4.18 billion units valued at RM2.95 billion, against Monday’s 4.78 billion units and RM2.89 billion.
Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd vice-president of equity research Thong Pak Leng said buyers showed interest in telecommunications and commodity-related shares. Activity also extended to selected small-cap counters in technology, energy and plantations. He said the US 10-year Treasury yield reached 5.349 per cent, the highest since 2002.
Heavyweight IHH Healthcare finished at RM7.91 after adding 15 sen. Maybank ended at RM9.97 and CIMB at RM7.70, both down three sen. Public Bank lost four sen, closing at RM4.67, while Tenaga Nasional ended 10 sen lower at RM12.90.
Among actively traded shares, Top Glove ended at 87.5 sen following a nine sen rise, while ACE Market newcomer SLGC finished at 25 sen after losing three sen. Malaysian Pacific Industries was among the leading gainers, adding RM1.56 to finish at RM44.96.
